Both the Ninja 400 and Ninja 500 share a well-documented gearbox complaint: under hard track use the standard detent spring simply isn't strong enough to hold the shift drum firmly in position. The result is missed shifts, false neutrals and the transmission jumping out of gear at exactly the wrong moment — hard on your lap time, and hard on the gearbox itself.
